You Stay Classy, San Diego

Spring has sprung and San Diego has finally got out of a few months of “cold” just in time for me to visit a mild, sunny Pacific Coast. Cold is relative of course, in places where the temperature actually hits freezing, we would not have considered it cold. This trip out west was a celebration, an invitation to a surprise-filled vacation. A hidden meaning behind a birthday celebration, that my friend Nick concealed from his partner relation. The surprise, of course, being a forever declaration, one which he proposed to his love infatuation.

As a best friend and resident photographer, I took the photos of the proposal which (fortunately) happened early on in the weekend before anyone in the group could accidentally give away the secret. But oh my, it was a pretty place (which you can see above). The beach was actually at the bottom of the Sunset Cliffs which was a short but steep trail to shuffle down. But once we were there, we had the area nearly to ourselves. A pleasant surprise for a Friday afternoon.

What a beautiful place indeed, Nick did a fantastic job choosing and Michelle said Yes! But now that the important business was out of the way, only fun and happy times remained.

If you’ve never been to San Diego, you’re missing out. This is a city I would consider moving to. It has mild weather all year, you can see sea lions on any day of the week (see below), there’s growing public transit and an airport close to downtown, and there is so much to do and see in the area! Not sure why any “Germans” would name it after a whale’s reproductive organs…

So since you’re here, you can expect a few groups of photos from San Diego: Sea Lions, beaches, Sunset Cliffs, Whales, and some more fun hidden in between. This was truly a “can’t stop, won’t stop” trip courtesy of Nick, and I’m really excited for you to see the photos that I captured along the way.

That’s what’s coming up next, pure Pacific coast bliss. I hope you enjoy. As always, keep an eye on Instagram (@journeywithryan) and YouTube (@journeywithryan) over the next couple weeks as I post San Diego content. And don’t forget to check back often as I only upload the full gallery right here at journeywithryan.com.
