Lewis and Clark may have stopped in Astoria, Oregon since it resides at the mouth of the Columbia River. But they immediately appreciated the beauty of the area saying, “Great joy in camp we are in view of the Ocean, this great Pacific Ocean which we been so long anxious to see”.
